Spicy Pork Belly Grill with Gochujang

Spicy Pork Belly Grill with Gochujang

I have three questions.

First, do you love grilled meat? (Actually who doesn’t, if you’re a non-vegetarian😋?)  Second, how about Gochujang, that iconic Korean spicy-sweet chili paste🌶?   Last, do you want all the deliciousness of barbecue without the hassle of setting up a grill or dealing with smoky smells that cling to your hair😎?

If you answered yes to all three questions, then Spicy Pork Belly Grill with Gochujang (Gochujang Samgyeopsal Gui, 고추장 삼겹살 구이) is the dish for you!

This dish is ridiculously easy to prepare and cooks perfectly in an air fryer. The result? Juicy, tender pork belly that’s spicy, flavorful, crispy on the outside, and incredibly satisfying. Let’s get started!

Ingredients 🥩🧄

Let’s be real—cooking should be simple. I’ve linked the products I used (highlighted) to save you the trouble of hunting down ingredients.

* Garlic and spring onion quantities are flexible—use as much as you like. These aren’t for the sauce but to grill alongside the pork.

Recipe 📓

1. Marinate the pork: Cut the pork belly (200g) into bite-sized pieces and marinate with soy sauce (1 tbsp), sugar (1 tsp), fish sauce (1 tsp), and gochujang (1.5 tbsp).
The longer you marinate, the better the flavor, of course, like everyone's saying. However, if you are short on time, even a quick marinate while you prep your veggies will work just fine (actually, that's what I did to prepare this recipe👌).

2. Prep the veggies: Chop the garlic and spring onion into bite-sized pieces.

3. Line the air fryer: Place a sheet of cooking paper in your air fryer, shaping it like a small plate.
CAUTION💥! Be sure to trim the paper so it doesn't touch the heating element - unless you'd like to burn down your current kitchen and install a new one😖.

4. Layer the veggies: Spread the garlic and spring onion on the bottom of the air fryer.

5. Add the pork: Lay the marinated pork belly pieces on top of the veggies.

6. First cook: Set the air fryer to 180°C and grill the pork for 10 minutes. When you open it, it’ll look far from ready😧 (seriously, don’t panic—it’s part of the process!).

7. Flip and cook again: Flip the meat and grill for another 10 minutes at 180°C. Now it looks almost done, but wait, there’s more! Flip the meat one last time and grill for an extra 5 minutes. This step gives the pork that smoky flavor and crispy texture on the outside.

8. Serve and enjoy: Plate your perfectly grilled pork belly and dig in. Enjoy every bite of this sweet, spicy, and crispy delight!
